BREAKING: Congressman Jared Moskowitz just brilliantly trolled Kristi Noem by reading aloud from her memoir about the time she murdered her dog — and he did it during a markup for a bill about deporting migrants for harming animals. The room couldn’t help but burst into laugher… Moskowitz gave a “spirited reading” of the book according to The Hill and mockingly chided his colleagues for referring to Cricket — the canine that Noem executed in a gravel pit — as a dog. “Actually, it was a puppy. It was 14 months old,” he said. “And that puppy had a name. Say its name: Cricket. OK? That puppy had a name.” As he continued reading, several people in the room “snickered.” “It starts: ‘I hated that dog … . The dog, on the way home from a pheasant hunt, was untrainable, and it went to go attack the chickens,” said Moskowitz. “And, at that moment, I realized I had to put her down. So, I grabbed a gun and led Cricket to a gravel pit. It wasn’t a pleasant job, but it had to be done.” “‘And after it was over, I realized another unpleasant job needed to be done, and so I went and got the family goat and brought that to the gravel pit, and unfortunately, I wasn’t able to kill that goat with one shot,'” he continued, unable to stop himself from laughing. Moskowitz made the point that the passage is directly relevant to the bill being considered, which would “amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide that an alien who has been convicted of harming animals used in law enforcement is inadmissible and deportable.” “I think the point of bringing it up is on the merits of the bill. We can debate the merits of the bill, but if we’re just going to get on our high horse about animal cruelty — which I think we all agree on, by the way, I think there’s unanimity here on animal cruelty — I just, you know, want to make sure that we apply that universally,” said Moskowitz. He added that he and Congressman Dan Goldman want to remind Congress that “the Secretary of Homeland Security also did not treat an animal in which we believe the animal should be treated.” Goldman even suggested renaming the bull to “The Kristi Noem Canine Relief Act of 2025.” “It is noteworthy that we are doubling down on deporting, arresting individuals who assault dogs in this case. And make no mistake, I am strongly against anyone assaulting dogs,” he said. “But I really want to know how, if at all, it would apply to Cabinet members who have admitted that they have shot and killed a dog.” “So I understand that this bill would not necessarily apply because it is really focused on making sure that we double down and deport not just people who are convicted of killing dogs, but people who have been alleged to have killed dogs,” Goldman continued. “And so this renaming, I think, would really capture the true essence of the bill, which is that we really don’t want anybody to kill dogs, especially the secretary of Homeland Security,” he added. The legislation, called “The BOWOW Act” was introduced by a Republican and is no way intended to protect animals. It’s designed to give the Trump administration even more leeway to deport people on flimsy grounds, while simultaneously painting the false picture in Americans’ minds that migrants are all animal-abusing monsters. Moskowitz is treating the bill with exactly the level of seriousness and respect it deserves, which is to say none. Please like and share!
